Blue Shoe Townsey and the Spearmint Tissy Kids |

Blue Shoe got his start by playing coffee bars throughout central Pennsylvania while attending Penn State University. He spent some time off and on, in hospitals in some of the towns he played after having schizophrenic breakdowns. He talked one of the nurses into getting him a pair of those blue hospital shoes. And after he saw a cousin of his, Brown Shoe Townser , play a bar in Philadelphia (he was born into a musical family) he decided to call himself Blue Shoe Townsey. After his first year at the university he decided to call it quits as far as school goes when Penn State wouldn’t take his eclectic guitar style into their music program. One night before the end of the school year, he turned a few of his musician friends on to a leafy green substance that smelled like spearmint. After he told them he was leaving, they had a fit, but when he asked them to go with him, they all agreed that it would be for the best. |
